Welcome to Broadstairs Folk Week!
The 2010 festival has left us all with some wonderful memories and we're now looking forward to 5- 12 August 2011 - the dates for next year.
Season Tickets are on sale at 2010 prices until the 30th September 2010 - some people have been very quick off the mark and booked already!
One of the highlights of 2010 was the newly revamped Concert Marquee - which managed to accommodate more people yet feel more intimate and spacious at the same time. It made the headline concerts more enjoyable than ever!
The Concert Marquee is where you’ll find all the headline acts performing, located in the middle of the town and a ten-minute walk from the campsite. Once you’ve arrived in Broadstairs – you can walk from venue to venue – all within a beautiful English seaside town.
Everyone has a different Folk Week – ask 50 people what is their favourite part of the festival and they will each tell you something completely different! Whether you are family looking for child-friendly events, younger generation wanting to burn off some dance energy or singers and musicians seeking out a session – Folk Week has something for you.
In 2010, the Young Folk events were the best-ever – with plenty for all ages to take part in – from the Shooting Roots workshops to the Toddlers’ Singalongs. And the exciting Sounds Fresh project with Kent Music School and Shooting Roots kicks off again on 17th September - so don't miss out! More details in our Young Folk Zone.
The Folk Week team are now busy organising the 500 or so events for 2011. The first peek at the headliners will be in January 2011 - but if you can't wait until then for a Folkie fix - why not come along to our special concert on 10 December with the Fraser Sisters and Barry Coope and Lester Simpson and enjoy harmonies and melodies to drive the cold winter away.
Tickets are available from the Folk Week office on 01843 604080
We're looking forward to seeing you!
The Festival Today Broadstairs Folk Week is an independent organization – a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee that depends on a combination of ticket income, public grants, commercial sponsorship and individual donations from the Friends of Folk Week and other fund-raising such as collections on the street to exist and to stay in the town and not become a green-field site festival outside of Broadstairs.
THANK YOU Saturday 14th of August 2010
All over for another year, and in the nick of time as Broadstairs seems to have turned into a swimming pool overnight...
A huge thank you to all of you who came to the festival, the performers, technical crews, venue staff, workforce, and of course our valued customers. We hope that you enjoyed the week, and that we'll see some of you again next year.
