2010 Festival will take place 6 - 13 August.
We're booking the music, you book the holiday, and we'll leave the weather to someone else to sort out.
Broadstairs Folk Week 2009 has been acclaimed one of the best ever, with massive crowds and fantastic weather enhanced by some truly terrific music all around the town.
If you missed it, the Festival CD "One Broadstairs Morning " is still available - send a cheque for £13.50 to Broadstairs Folk Week, Pierremont Hall, Broadstairs CT10 1JX and we will post one off to you.
Folk Week is very pleased to receive support from Arts Council England in 2009 for the Poor Man's Music Project.
There is a thread of themed events running throughout the festival, ranging from celebrations of Woody Guthrie and Tom Paine; remembering the landmark journey 50 years ago to the southern states of the US by Shirley Collins to workshops in American Folk song, clawhammer banjo and bluegrass banjo - among many others. Check out our Souvenir programme for full details.

In addition to the usual catering by avowed carnivores MOOR & COAST we have an option for vegetarians this year at the campsite. STEVIE TEA will be providing lots of goodies, and his tent will also double as a daytime acoustic stage..
and back by popular demand will be Euan's GAMES ROOM - a space for all the family to enjoy with table tennis, table football, board games etc etc
The 2009 Festival welcomes dance sides both familiar and new with:
Annie's Fantasies; Bishop's Gundulf; Gong Scourers; Hannah's Cat; Hartley; Harwich; Headcorn; Hocus Pocus; Madcap; Maenads; Minster Mayhems; Offcumduns; Oojah Kapivvy; Over the Hill; Rising Larks; Royal Liberty; Star & Shadow; St Clements Clog; Tanglefoot; Taproots; Towersey; Wantsum; Warwick Rapper; Wild Hunt
We are delighted to announce that Ye Olde Crown in the High Street will this year open its doors to all musicians who need a place to sit and play. From midday to closing time throughout the festival the pub, which is under new management, is offering a warm welcome with promises of real ale and a large room just waiting for musicians......
This is of course in addition to the more organised sessions held lunchtimes and evenings at the Lord Nelson and the afternoon Woodshed session at the Wrotham Arms
Country dance director Madeleine Smith has put together a terrific programme for enthusiasts this year, with callers for the week Ivan Aitken, Brian Jones, Frances Oates and guest callers Mary Goulder, Keith Wright and Madeleine herself. Music will be provided by The Bristol Players, Melodic Evil, Pilgrim's Way and Stowfolk from the UK with Jody Kruskal and Paul Friedman adding an American dimension.
This year there will be a full programme of late night events held at the school for those who want an alternative to the late night dancing at the Pavilion. These events will include a Music Hall with Lynne Heraud & Pat Turner, Mac & Dawn's famous Quiz Night, a night of Americana hosted by Trevor Stephenson, and a night of Morris Mayhem hosted by Wantsum. Plus Woodshed host Bob Kenward leaves the comfort of the Wrotham Arms to host the first session on Friday 7th, Martin Young hosts a Folk Club where your input is welcomed, and there will be a Big Session on Thursday where you can all show off what you have learned during the week
We have now added a summary of the main concerts and dance events during the week, but do remember that there wil be over 500 events, including many smaller intimate concerts, and lots more opportunities to dance including a full programme for country dancers at Upton School
This year for the first time - we are introducing a Priority Booking scheme for Friends of Folk Week. There are more details to come in the Friends section (under GET INVOLVED) - but the scheme is active from now for individual tickets for all evening concerts in the main marquee.
Now you can start planning your holiday to Broadstairs as there is loads to look forward during this year's festival, with a terrific line-up full of treats for folkies and non-folkies alike.
Season Tickets are now on sale - don't forget they include all concerts, workshops and late-nights - just make sure you get to each event on time.
