MUSIC, SONG & DANCE WORKSHOPS FOR 2012
Our workshops are getting a bit of a reputation – for offering a great opportunity to learn from people who are friendly and really understand their subject. 
With workshops for all interests and standards from complete beginner to accomplished performer  Make this the year YOU learn something new and remember – entry to workshops is included in the Season Ticket or you can just buy individual tickets. Come and join in!

Progressive workshops take place over several days; see how much progress you make by the end of the week!

MUSIC WORKSHOPS include

Accordion, Banjo, Bazouki, Bodhran, Concertina, Guitar, Fiddle, Flutes & Whistles, Harmonica, Hurdy-Gurdy, Mandolin, Melodeon, Percussion

Tunes for Sessions, Lincolnshire Tunes, Shetland Tunes, Part Playing, French Dance Tunes, Band in a Week

SONG WORKSHOPS include:

Festival Choir, Harmony Singing, Carol Singing, Vocal Techniques

DANCE WORKSHOPS include:

African Dance,  Appalachian, Cajun & Zydeco, English Clog, Flatfooting, Irish Set Dancing, Line Dancing with Zumba, Lindy-Hop, Maypole, Morris, Rapper, Samba, Tango

 Folk/Country/Social Dancing Workshops at Upton School which include:

Contra    - Longways dances in the American style, usually fast and done with a relaxed and smooth walk.

Playford   - 17th and 18th century English country dances, or modern dances in the old styles. Lots of formations and steps, musical styles and rhythms. Think Jane Austen!

Square  - Four couples arranged in a square.  Square workshops usually mean American Square danced with a smooth, relaxed walk, but there will also be some English traditional squares, which are stepped.

Traditional Dances  -  collected from English Villages: varied formations and steps, plus modern community dances.

Callers; Barrie Bullimore,Beryl Jukes, Madeleine Smith, Chris Turner, Anne Welch

and  music from Dampier's Round,  Masquerade,  Pendragon, Vic Smith & Mollie Koenigsberger , Stowfolk ,Andy Turner & Matt Green

plus Tea Dances,  Evening Dances, a Playford Ball and some Callers workshops for all standards
