There are many influences discernable in the music of Coup de Grass: American Folk and Country can be heard, especially in Keith's beautiful ballads. There is an undeniable Blues element to James's harmonica playing. The infectious rhythms of Rock n Roll, Swing and Jazz are ever present. Some of the band's fast instrumentals, together with their anarchic humour, have even invited comparisons with Spike Jones and his City Slickers. With Keith Pearson's world-class songs as the mainstay of their repertoire and James Darby's world-championship harmonica playing providing most of the instrumental melody lines, musicianship alone would make them special, but they are also a great looking and very funny act.
